Militaster Monday

militaster ~ soldier without skill or ability

Well, the renovation has pretty much come to a standstill until the new year. Someone was supposed to come Friday to re-measure our counters but we never heard from them. The hubby has the new sink sitting in place and I gotta say, it looks pretty good – even without taps or counter.

It’s kind of frustrating that I can’t even really finish loading up the cupboards. The upper cabinets need the trim around the top and it’s better to do that with the cupboards empty, so anything I put in there will just have to come out again. And the lower cabinets on either side of the sink – well, the one on the left would only need to be unloaded again when the plumber needs to get at the pipes to hook up the sink, and the one on the right needs to be empty so the plumbing for the dishwasher can be snaked through it. And I have to wonder, if I’m going to have hoses going through there, is that going to interfere with the lazy susan on the bottom?

But meanwhile, we only have two Mondays until Christmas, so I would be remiss if I did not keep up with my holiday tradition of posting Christmas Carols for your listening pleasure. And in keeping with tradition, I’m starting out with a few of my favourite funny ones. So here they are, in no particular order.

Ho Ho Ha Ha

I missed the Wednesday poetry post, so I’ve got nothing to repeat here today. However, I also made some mention (on one of my blogs) of switching from poetry to Christmas videos seeing as we’re so close to Christmas and all, so that’s what I’m doing today.

Today you get the funny ones, next week the more serious ones. Hope you enjoy. :-D

Christmas Prelude

So ... a week or so ago I made the off hand comment that I'd be posting the occasional Christmas video and it's been brought to my attention that I haven't done so yet. Oops! My bad! But even though I'm knee deep in Christmas baking and crafting, I figure I should get on that. 'Cause you know, Christmas is coming! ;-)

First, I thought I'd start with the traditional tree picture. Aside from the Hello Kitty on the top, the lights, and the two cats jockeying for space underneath it, all the ornaments are hand made. This was a tradition started many years ago by my daughter and I - we'd make a new craft each year and sometimes we'd even make enough to give to friends.

For my first Christmas video, I present the other reason we have hand made, and far less fragile, ornaments:

These others are just for fun. :-)

'Twas the Eve Before Christmas Eve

Anybody starting to feel a little frazzled with Christmas so close?

Well, get a cup of coffee and sit a spell. These amusing Christmas songs should put a smile on your face.

There's a Santa that Looks A lot Like Elvis

All You Need Is Elves

It's the Most Fattening Time of the Year

Carol of the Bartenders

And one of my personal favorites: I Am Santa Claus

And now that I've restored your Christmas spirit, it's back to the kitchen for me. I have 7 cookie cans to fill and 2 days to do it in. Any bets on whether I succeed? ;-)

It's That Time of Year Again

For some people, it's the most wonderful time of the year. For me, it's my opportunity to search the internet for Christmas tunes to entertain you with. :-D

I know a lot of people out there have had their outdoor decorations up for weeks, and a few of you even have their trees up. Me? I have nothing so far. No outdoor decorations, no indoor decorations . . . I haven't even given baking a passing thought.

I need another month. Heck, I need another six months and then maybe I could make a few of the things I was going to make for Christmas. I have not even a hint of the Christmas Spirit so far. I think I might have scared it off during the frenzy that was the month of November.

Anyway, here's hoping a few tunes will kickstart my Christmas Spirit.

Ho ho ho!
